HONEY AS PRECIOUS AS GOLD

The Benefits of Natural Beekeeping

For the bee: it is the method that allows it to behave more like it would in nature.

  1. Less stress: the colony always remains in the same location (as it would in nature, for example inside the hollow trunk of a tree), so the bees are not forced to change their habits depending on the place they are moved to in order to produce monofloral honeys for consumers.

  2. Living naturally: the bees store honey and pollen, as well as raise their brood, within combs they build themselves, without having to adapt to pre-structured wax sheets with uniform cells.

  3. Greater resistance to diseases and parasites: the hives are placed far apart from each other, reducing the risk that diseases and viruses present in some colonies may easily spread to others.

For the consumer: unchanged properties of the honey, with a more intense aroma and fragrance, and less sweetness.

  1. Honey with unaltered nutritional properties, thanks to an extraction process that uses pressing of the comb—known as “cold extraction.”

  2. Distinct organoleptic qualities, also due to the presence of pollen.

  3. Less sugary, as the bees are fed (with a sugar-water solution or fondant) only in extreme cases—when, due to adverse weather conditions, they are unable to feed themselves and must be supported to prevent the colony from dying.

For the environment: increased pollination and protection of biodiversity and wild flowering plants.

  1. A healthy bee becomes an increasingly tireless pollinator, with significant positive effects on the environment—bringing great benefits to agriculture and, ultimately, to our tables.

  2. Providing bees with natural nourishment (flowers, honeydew) encourages beekeepers to preserve and enhance a richer biodiversity in the environment.
